it is heartbreaking to realize that belonging to a larger family doesnot pay. Immediately after the traged accident in the North West Zambia Annual Conference on the 17th September 2012, the Prelate off the 17th Episcopal District the Rt Rev Wilfred J Messiah made a passionate appeal for assistance in his latter dated September 20th 2012 towards the bereaved families. Unfortunately none of you including Bishops of the Church have responded and contributed anything to these families who are now wallowing in abject poverty and their children have stopped going to school. todate these families have only received an equivalent of U$85 Per family possibly raised through local resources. Just wanted to inform you, your husband, and All others that my wife, Bessie M. Hines, has been completely discharged from REHABILATATION, and is now back home with the family. Her "WALKING" has improved and progressed tremendously with the assistance of THEARPISTS'. Even though at home she will continue to receive "IN-HOME THEARPY" until she is able to walk on her own without assistance.
Sister Ora, please allow me the privilege to express deep personal Special Thanks and Appreciation to you for your prayers and concerns during our season of health challenges. We are a family that can attest and witness to the fact of God can and will do, only IF we will TRUST Him for His WORD! Behind a frowning providence, HE hides a smiling face! I am indeed grateful and thankful to ALL the Prayer Warriors across the Connectional Church of African Methodism who stood in the gap sending UP PETITIONS for healing and restoration of my spouse, Bessie M. Reverend & Mrs. Charles (Jeanette P.) Singleton of Awendaw, South Carolina, appreciate the many best wishes and congratulations extended them by family, friends, relatives, and acquaintances as they celebrated their 56th Wedding Anniversary on September 7, 2013.
The couple met in 1939, he was a 3rd grader and she was a 2nd grader. The sweethearts(childhood,youths, teens, young adults) got engaged on December 19, 1956 and were married on September 7, 1957.
As they count their many blessings for these beautiful years together, they give GOD THE GLORY, especially for their daughter Charnette E. Singleton, sons Charles P. Singleton, and Charlton P. Singleton, daughters-in-law Delissa and Maryjo, and grandchildren Eric, Shalamar, Evan, D'Marcus, and Ashanti.
Reverend Singleton is AMEC Superannuated Elder and Mrs. Singleton is a WMS Life Member. LOVING IT!

The African Methodist Episcopal Church once again proved itself to be a church with a ministry built around social concerns as originally founded. We have been inundated with messages of support form near and far, thanks to your publication and especially that of The AME Church Clergy Family Information Center. It is a comforting thought that there are those who are concerned about the welfare and well being of their fellow sojouners; ranging from Bishops to the lay members serving in local charges. Our spirits were lifted and we were encouraged, being able to face the challenge of saying farewell to a loved one.

Glory and Praise to God for what He has done and continues to do.
Sis. Barbara P. Hampton, who became sick at the AME Church General Conference in Nashville is now in her ninth (9th) month of hospitalization. After spending 33 days in the hospital in Nashville; August 6th she was air-ambulanced to a Tulsa hospital where she remains.
To date two of the original abdominal fistula's have not fully healed/closed. Sis Barbara remains in good Spirit and continues to maintain her daily walks about the hospital ward.
As of the 2nd week of March she has been placed on a regular/solid food diet and the TPN which had been her primary food/nutrition source via IV has been removed.
In the past few months, the leakage from the abdominal fistulas have dropped from a daily measure of 180 ML to currently about 10 ML.
There are preliminary discussions about discharging her to continue healing from home. However, the date of her discharge have not been determined.
We are aware that, even after her discharge, her healing and recovery will continue through-out 2013 and into the early part of 2014. We are essentially looking at Spring/Summer 2014 before she will be able to resume work and/or continue her education. (She had planned to began her Masters Degree studies in the Fall/2012.)
Please be assured that our faith remains strong. We have no doubt that God will continue to see us through this. Our position yet remains that "her body is broken but not our faith". Without a doubt, God has this.
My Brothers and Sister, the Lord would have you to know and understand that the "the things which have happened unto us have fallen out for the furtherance of the Gospel".
While this and the aforementioned paragraph, in particular, may seem strange. Please be assured that the significance of the bonds - of our health challenges - in Christ, are made manifest throughout the whole church palace, both high and low and in many other places.
We appreciate you as you continue to journey with us in faith, prayer and healing. As we journey together, you too will no doubt "wax confident" in the understanding that the LORD is in this.
Oh wretched man that I am, who am I that Thou wouldst find favor? Nevertheless, at Thy command I am compelled to admonish "those who are called by HIS name" to "stand still and see the salvation of the LORD".
