September 2025 Congratulatory Announcements
The African Methodist Episcopal Church Department of Christian Education announces the Following Two Changes in Leadership

We are excited to announce a change in leadership in the Connectional Fellowship of Church Educators (CFCE). Dr. Robin Porter Smith has served as Chair since 2018. She has now become the President of the Connectional Council of the A.M.E. Church, making her the first layperson and the first woman to hold this position. We are confident that Dr. Porter Smith will lead the Connectional Council with the same excellence and enthusiasm with which she has led the CFCE.
Dr. Porter Smith’s educational background includes: Howard University Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering; University of the District of Columbia Master of Business Administration; George Washington University Certificate of Information in Project Management; Maple Springs Baptist Bible College and Seminary Master of Religious Education; Regent University Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies; and University of Phoenix Doctor of Management.
Dr. Porter Smith is a member of Real Power A.M.E. Church in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, where she serves as Christian Education Director, is on the Audio-Visual Team, and sings with the New Day Mass Choir. Her proud pastor is Rev. Dr. Stanley Fuller. Dr. Porter Smith is the eldest of four daughters of the late Rev. Dr. William Robert Porter and Mother Doris Ann Porter. She is the mother of Robin Angela Smith, MBA, Membership Operations Assistant at the National Council of Negro Women in Washington, DC.

We are exited to announce that Dr. Roberta Hill has been named as the Interim Chair of the Connectional Fellowship of Church Educators (CFCE). Dr. Hill serves as the 13th Episcopal District Director of Christian Education and has been serving as the Vice Chair of the CFCE. She is an experienced Christian Educator having served in the 4th and 13th Episcopal Districts and alongside her husband, Rev. Dr. Kenneth H. Hill, retired Executive Director of the Department of Christian Education for the AME Church. Dr. Roberta Hill is a retired music educator and served as the Director of Human Resources for the Franklin, TN School District. She currently is an adjunct professor at Trevecca University in Nashville, TN. We are grateful that Dr. Ro, as she is affectionately known, will lead this ministry component in "a more excellent way" which has been her motto and methodology in the teaching ministry over the decades that she has served.
On behalf of Social Action Commission Chair, Bishop Reginald T. Jackson, and Director/Consultant Dr. Jacquelyn DuPont Walker, we extend congratulations to you as you praise God for this significant milestone.
God Bless!
Ora L. Easley
