Olympia Mary Allison Mix, daughter of Mrs. Paschell Cummings Mix and the late Gregory R. Mix, marries Harold J. Brown, Jr.  Olympia is also, the granddaughter of Bishop and Mrs. Frank C. Cummings. Mrs. Paschell Cummings Mix, happily announces the union. Guest were invited to an engagement party at Ventana’s, a private rooftop venue located in downtown Atlanta, Georgia on Saturday, August 6, 2016, only to be surprised with the wedding ceremony of Olympia Mary Allison Mix and Harold J. Brown, Jr. on Ventana's roof top, overlooking the Atlanta skyline. The Rev. Dr. Gregory Vaughn Eason, Sr., pastor of Flipper Temple A.M.E. Church, officiated. The couple is relocating to Kentucky.

On Saturday, August 13, 2016, Jennifer Eman Keanne Ingram was United in Holy Matrimony to Gregory McCoy at Oak Grove African Methodist Episcopal Church in Detroit, Michigan.  She is the daughter of Bishop Gregory GM Ingram and the Rev. Dr. Jessica Kendall Ingram, Presiding Bishop and Episcopal Supervisor of the First Episcopal District. The ceremony was performed by Bishop Drew Sheard, Rev. Dr. Jamal Bryant and Rev. Robert Brumfield.  The Receptions were held at Oak Grove AME and the Westin Hotel in Southfield, Michigan.  Over 60 persons from the First District were in attendance. Greg McCoy is the co-owner of a Blessed Hands, an appliance repair company and Jennifer is a Human Resource Specialist.

Presiding Elder, Chattanooga-Knoxville District, East Tennessee Conference and Mrs. Juliana Mayes, 1st Lady, Chattanooga-Knoxville District. The Committee on Bar Admissions in its October 7, 2016 report to the Chief Justice and Associate Justices of the Supreme Court of Louisiana reported that Terri M. Mayes was one of the applicants passing the July 2016 Louisiana Bar Examination and has met all other requirements for admission.

Truman has over 12 years of experience in real estate and his industry experience and expertise includes the development, acquisition and disposition of institutional quality commercial real estate assets and the procurement of acquisition and development financing implemented through various mechanisms including, but not limited to, senior and subordinated debt, private equity, various federal and state tax credits, and hybrid debt/equity instruments

On October 1, 2016, Ali Gail Holness and Thomas Jordan Roland were married in an elaborate wedding at the Historic Metropolitan AME Church, Washington DC, officiated by the Pastor, the Reverend William H. Lamar IV and  the Reverend Dr. John Foster, Pastor of Historic Big Bethel AME Church, Atlanta, Ga.  There were more than 300 guest in attendance. The reception was held at the church in Historic Frederick Douglas Hall. Ali is the daughter of Washington DC Pastor, the Reverend Dr. E. Gail Anderson Holness and Allan D. Holness, Jr.  Thomas is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Roland, Sr.  of Atlanta, Ga. The couple met while students at Spelman and Morehouse Colleges. They honeymooned in London, England.

We joyfully announce the marriage of Jeremy Christian Darby and Hayley Lawrence Darby on Saturday, November 26 at Morris Brown AME Church, Charleston, South Carolina. The Groom is the son of The Reverend Joseph A. Darby and Mrs. Mary B. Darby, the Presiding Elder and Area Consultant of the Beaufort District, South Carolina Conference, Seventh Episcopal District.  He is employed as a Graphic Designer by the U.S. Department of Energy. The Bride is the daughter of Mr. Sam and Mrs. Jeanette Lawrence, members of Charity AME Church in the Mount Pleasant District, Palmetto Conference, Seventh Episcopal District.  She is a Medical Systems Information Technology Consultant.  The couple will reside in Fairfax, Virginia.

On Sunday, December 4, 2016, the Reverend Willie V. Woods, Retired Itinerant Elder of the West Tennessee Conference, Thirteenth Episcopal District and Mrs. Mondella Woods, Life Member of the Women's Missionary Society of the AME Church, celebrated 45 years of marriage with family and friends as they thanked God for this Blessing.

Officer Herman Osby Kelly, III, Son of Dr. Herman O. Kelly, Jr. Pastor and Mrs. Linda M. Kelly, First Lady of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Baton Rouge, LA. was awarded a Unit Citation from the Metropolitan Police Department for service to the citizens of District 7 in Washington, DC.

With nearly twenty years of practice, Derek E. Presiding Elder Ella Mae Samuels, retired Presiding Elder of the African Methodist Episcopal Church received a very special award October 21, 2016. Samuels retired from the office of Presiding Elder April 2014 due to health issues. She had served as a Pastor for 16 years and as a Presiding Elder of the Augusta-Athens District for 14 years, in the Augusta Georgia Conference and the 6th Episcopal District of the AME Church. She now supplies the New Zion Hill AME Church in Thomson, Georgia where Bishop Reginald T. Jackson is the Presiding Prelate and Attorney Christy Jackson is the Episcopal Supervisor.  Samuels was honored October 21, 2016 during a 1000 Churches Connected Clergy Awards Luncheon hosted by Dr. Jesse Jackson and the Rainbow Push Coalition. The luncheon was part of the 1000 Churches Conference and 75th Birthday Celebration of the Rev. Jesse Jackson, Founder and President of Rainbow Push. Samuels received the Trombone Award for her works in areas of the Church, as well as being a resounding voice as a Community Leader. Samuels was one of six clergy members honored and she was the only AME and the only female.

Ms. Valerie Biwa received her Master of Arts Degree in Communication on December 17, 2016, from Eastern Michigan State University in Ypsilanti, Michigan. She is the daughter of Presiding Elder Andreas and Mrs. Sophia Biwa of the Namibia Annual Conference, 15th Episcopal District, and the sister of Presiding Elder Albert Biwa also of the Namibia Annual Conference.

The Jackson-Vicksburg District-South Mississippi Conference of the Eighth Episcopal District, Bishop Julius Harrison McAllister, Presiding Prelate, announces the Retirement Celebration for the Reverend George Willis Tyler.  The Reverend Tyler is being honored for his Forty-Nine (49) years of Dedicated Service as Pastor and Presiding Elder in the Eighth Episcopal District. The event will be held on January 14, 2017 at one o’clock in the afternoon at Pearl Street African Methodist Episcopal Church, 2519 Robinson Street, Jackson, MS.  A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall.

Van Stavel, superannuated minister, associated with the Zion AME Church Worcester, in the Fifteenth Episcopal District, Bishop David Rwhynica Daniels Jr, Presiding Prelate, the Rev Willem Burger, Presiding Elder and the Rev. Keith Links, Pastor. We thank God, for the input and commitment of this stalwart who remains a beacon of light to African Methodism. The Rev Van Stavel has rendered excellent service to our Zion and remains a source of strength and inspiration to all he encounters.  Psalm 37:25, I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread.

Mrs. Mary E. White, Life Member of the Women’s Missionary Society of the AME Church and the immediate past president of the Tennessee Conference Minister’s Spouses, Widows and Widowers Organization, celebrated her 80th birthday on Tuesday, January 10, 2017. Mrs. White is the wife of the Reverend Donald T. White, retired pastor in the Tennessee Conference; the mother of the Reverend Dennis D. Lawson, pastor of St. Paul AME Church, Columbia, TN; Mr. Hilliary Parks, III, of Nashville, TN and Ms. Angela Marie Parks of Washington, DC.
