*The Rev. Dr. Dimpho Gaobepe of the Nineteenth Episcopal District obtains a PhD Degree

The Rev. Dimpho Alpheus obtains a PhD (Philosophiae Doctor). Dimpho Alpheus Gaobepe is the son of the late Adelaide “Lydia” Mosalagadi Gaobepe and the late Tubane Gaobepe was born on 10 May 1975 in Huhudi Location near Vryburg in the Northwest Province. He matriculated from Kanana Senior Secondary School in Kanana township.

He earned two Masters Degrees. He obtained Master’s Degree in Theology specializing with Missiology in Faculty of Theology from North West University Mafikeng Campus. He also holds Master of Arts in International Relation Studies from NWU University Mafikeng Campus North West RSA, B.Sc. Mathematics and Political Science from Huston Tillotson University Austin, Texas, USA,  Post Graduate Diploma in Public Management  (NQF LEVEL 8),  Diploma In Systematic Theology from R R Wright Theological seminary (NQF LEVEL 7) ,Professional Certificate in Legislative Drafting and  Processes from international Centre for Parliamentary Studies in London (UK),  Certificate in Advanced Strategy Development and Implementation and professional certificate in Business continuity  from Business Continuity SA .

In his Thesis, The Role of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in China’s Lebensraum into Africa through economic expansion (2000-2018), Dimpho investigates if China's concept of peaceful development, which emphasizes the need for a positive-sum game and friendly collaboration, is merely a strategy that China employs to hide its mostly economic actions in many regions of the world. Because of the attention that is being paid to Africa, it is necessary to investigate the degree of reciprocity that exists in the bilateral relations between China and Africa. To accomplish this objective, the theoretical framework employed include theories of Neo-mercantilism, Liberalism, and Marxism.

The study, thus concludes with the suggestion that the FOCAC can reshape the perception of China's economic involvement in Africa by highlighting a mutual dedication to sustainable development and progress, achieved through cooperative and accountable actions.

Congratulatory messages can be emailed to The Rev. Dr. Dimpho Gaobepe via lesitogp@gmail.com.
