Rev. Dr. Alvan Johnson, Jr, officially retired at the New England Annual Conference, First Episcopal District.  Dr. Johnson has given fifty years of pastoral service and leadership to the African Methodist Episcopal Church.

*Rev. Dr. Alice Hubbard Crenshaw, Pastor of Solomon Chapel AME Church announce the graduation of her granddaughter Dr. Erica Renee’ Peyton


is an accomplished educator, having served students and families in education for over a decade.  Working in education, both teaching and leading has always been a passion and priority for her.  Born and raised in St. Louis, Mo, she received her primary education from St. Louis Public Schools and her secondary education from the Rockwood School District.  Immediately upon graduating from high school, Dr. Peyton moved to New Orleans, Louisiana to attend Dillard University, a Historically Black University nationally recognized for producing great teachers.  Dr. Peyton’s personal experience coupled with her experience as a teacher in the Recovery School District-New Orleans has shaped how she approaches her career.  Her ultimate goal is to enhance the educational experience of students from underprivileged and multicultural backgrounds through her interactions with families, other educators, and community partners.
“As a current school leader, her goal is to move students forward academically and grow the capacity of all educators professionally.  Erica’s passion as an educator has allowed her to connect the outside environment with the educational environment to promote learning in both students and teachers. She’s challenged to be creative and inventive and uses data driven techniques to improve overall test scores and design meaningful opportunities for teachers and students alike.”
Dr. Erica Peyton earned her bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education from Dillard University.  She received her master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of New England.  Dr. Peyton completed her Educational Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction and her Doctoral Degree in Leadership in Teaching and Learning from Missouri Baptist University.  Dr. Peyton is the daughter of Josette O. Peyton and Ernest H. Peyton. Dr. Peyton is the mother of Peyton(10) and Kolby(6). She is also the sister of John B. Manning II and Erinn Borders who served the church as YPDers at Tri-Union AME Church in St. Louis, Mo under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Hercules Miles, Jr. General Officer of the African Methodist Episcopal Church.  She left her teaching profession in New Orleans, LA to become an assistant principal for Normandy Schools Collaborative in 2014 at 29 years old.  She has since worked for the Hazelwood School District and will begin working for the Maplewood-Richmond Heights School District July 1, 2019 also as an Assistant Principal. Dr. Peyton is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc, New Orleans Alumnae Chapter.
We are proud of her as she continues using her teaching and leadership skills to educate others. We thank and praise God for the gifts He continues to bestow into Dr. Erica Renee’ Peyton as she shares those gifts with others.

The Pensacola-Panama City District and Good Hope African Methodist Episcopal Church, Warrington, Florida announces and invites you to the Retirement Celebration of Reverend Calvin and Mrs. Dorise Griffin after 47 Years of Successful Ministry in the Eleventh Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. The Celebration will be held at the Life Center of Gregg Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, 15 Carson Drive S.E., Ft. Walton Beach, Florida on Saturday, June 29, 2019, One O’clock in the afternoon
