Dr. T.G. James with Bishop Frederick Calhoun James-

Dr. Theressa Gregg James, the very gracious Episcopal Supervisor Retired, celebrated her 96th Birthday, Tuesday, November 13, 2019.  Dr. James is the wife of Bishop Frederick Calhoun James, the Ninety-Third Elected and Consecrated Bishop of the African Methodist Episcopal Church.

Dr. James was born in Marion, South Carolina, is a graduate of their (she and Bishop James’) “Beloved” Allen University, Bachelor of Arts Degree in History, Cum Laude Graduate, and Columbia University in New York, NY. She enjoyed a career in teaching while serving as First Lady and being actively involved in the life of the churches where the then, Rev. F.C. James was assigned, particularly with the Women’s Missionary Society and Young Peoples Division.  Dr. James’ dedication in Missions earned her a doctorate in Humanities from the University of Monrovia, Liberia in West Africa in 1988.

Dr. James actively and faithfully served as Episcopal Supervisor beside Bishop James in the Fifteenth/Eighteenth, Twelfth, Seventh, Ecumenical Officer and the Second Episcopal Districts. They were and remain “a model Christian Couple.”
